Designing a logo that represents a town and a community event is a special kind of challenge. For one talented student at Masconomet Regional High School, that challenge turned into a source of immense pride. This year, Sarah Fine had the opportunity to recreate the official logo for the Topsfield 2023 Fall Foliage Classic 5K run.

The student, enrolled in the graphic design class at Masco with her teacher Mrs. Mannheim, was excited to put their skills to the test. They wanted to create a design that would capture the spirit of the race while also reflecting the iconic fall foliage that makes New England so beautiful. The final design is a testament to their creativity and talent. It features a stylized silhouette of a runner in motion. What makes this runner truly unique is that it is composed entirely of vibrant fall leaves. This clever touch directly connects the event to the season and the natural beauty of Topsfield. The colors of the leaves, ranging from deep reds and oranges to golden yellows, evoke the warmth and richness of autumn.

Seeing their design come to life on the official race t-shirts was an incredibly rewarding experience for the young designer. Knowing that runners would be wearing their creation as they participated in the 5K filled them with pride. It was a great opportunity to apply what they had learned in class to a real-world project, and it has inspired them to continue pursuing their passion for graphic design. Masco is grateful to the organizers of the Fall Foliage Classic for choosing their design and looks foward to help with another redesign next year.
